In my eyes you see your reflection
In the doorway to my soul lies your own eyes

You love to hate me because I am consistent in my inconsistencies.
I keep you on your toes
watching, waiting, wondering what to expect
and whether to expect anything at all.
I am both your mother and your child.

But mostly in the times you cannot see it
The times I am invisible to you.
I am helpless,
lying in your arms with the trust of an infant,

I am the sky and the earth.
My mind vast and endless
dependable as the rising of the sun.
Fire and water reside within me.
Ever changing, ever flowing,
with a fierceness unmatched by any other,
A will to live that conquers over death itself
A will to love and be loved that pushes apathy
to the brink of nonexistence.
